At least 1 in 8 people in Britain have been infected by the coronavirus disease, with the country now holding the record of having the highest COVID-19 related deaths.
The Office of the National Statistics reported that deaths in the United Kingdom are 40 percent higher than the normal average.
Estimates showed that at least 96,000 people have died from the virus in UK while 50,000 people are getting infected daily.
More than 4 million people have been vaccinated in the UK with two doses of the vaccine shot from Pfizer and BioNTech.
Britain recorded 16 COVID deaths per one million people each day. It is higher compared to Czech Republic’s record last week.
The UK death rate is also higher compared to Italy and significantly more than that in both the US and Germany. Both countries are recording 10 deaths per million.
Britain is next to Mexico, the United States in the world total of having the most number of fatalities due to COVID-19.
