UAE company ordered to pay former manager AED400,400 (PHP5.2 million), grant return ticket

Upholding an appellate court verdict, the Supreme Federal Court has ordered a company to pay its former financial manager Dhs400,400, an end-of-service reward and a return ticket to his home country.

In a report by Gulf Today, the employee had filed a criminal labor lawsuit against the company.

The complainant claimed he worked for the company for 31 years with a monthly salary of AED26,125.

The complainant said the company violated the law when he was arbitrarily terminated.

The company refused to pay his dues of AED600,325.

The court then obligated the company to pay the employee AED400,400, apart from a travel ticket to his home country, and related fees and expenses.

The company appealed the ruling, saying it paid the employee the end of service bonus despite availing of a loan.

The court eventually rejected the request and the appeal.
