SEHA starts COVID-19 vaccination in 40 different locations

The Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, (SEHA), has opened two COVID-19 vaccination centers in Abu Dhabi and Dubai for those who are willing to take the Beijing Institute of Biological Product’s inactivated vaccine.

The COVID-19 vaccination centres, located in Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal in Abu Dhabi City and Al Ain Convention Center in Al Ain City, can administer COVID-19 vaccine shots to 6,000 people daily.

The centers were established following the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention’s (MOHAP) announcement of the registration of the vaccine.

The UAE is among the first few countries to roll out its immunization plan.

In Dubai, the COVID-19 Vaccination Center is located at Dubai Parks & Resorts Field Hospital. The center can accommodate 3,000 people daily.

The Sinopharm CNBG COVID-19 vaccine will also be administered within select SEHA facilities.

At least 35 Ambulatory Health Services (AHS) facilities in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, 6 hospitals in the Al Dhafra region, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, SEHA’s National Screening Centre in Mina Rashid and Khawaneej in Dubai city, and existent screening centre in industrial areas, with an overall capacity of 150,000 will also administer the Sinopharm vaccine.

MOHAP said that the registration of the  Sinopharm CNBG COVID-19 vaccine comes after the results of the vaccine’s Phase 3 clinical trials or the testing of the vaccine to large number of population.

At least 31,000 volunteers took part in the trials.

Health authorities said that the inactivated vaccine’s efficacy is at  86%.

Visitors in the vaccination centers and SEHA facilities will have to get their vital checkup, including blood pressure, height, weight, and temperature.

Women will also be required to conduct a pregnancy test.

They will also have to undergo assessment and sign a waiver before they can get their first dose.

The vaccine centers in Abu Dhabi will be open from 8AM to 8PM. Centers in Dubai will be from 8AM to 4PM. (TDT)
