The Abu Dhabi Police are reminding motorists not to get distracted by taking photos or using phones while driving especially in this changing weather conditions.
Under the traffic safety rules during the seasonal rains period, Article (32) of UAE traffic rules specifies the AED800 and 4 blacks points fine for motorists using phones while being on roads, which could lead to the driver’s distraction and cause traffic accidents.
Drivers are also urged to adhere to traffic rules and regulations, avoid driving on high speeds and avoid crossing red signals.
Police officials maintained that it is important to stay alert while driving especially at this time that the country is experiencing unpredicted weather conditions.
Traffic accidents could be reduced and safety can also be maintained among road users across the Emirate, the police added.
Recently, Abu Dhabi Police has recently launched an urgent alert feature using its smartphone application.
Through this, motorists are given warnings about unstable weather conditions of rains and fog, and during traffic congestion.
Police urged them to activate notifications of the new ‘urgent alert feature’ to make use of the application’s services. (ES)
