The Dubai Police arrested a man who allegedly strangled his own girlfriend to death in Al Barsha.
Authorities stated that the 45-year-old African first claimed that he was trying to exorcise his girlfriend from an evil spirit.
Further investigations revealed that the two had a financial disagreement that led to the assault.

Colonel Makki Salman Ahmed, director, Crime Scene Department, General Department of Forensic Evidence and Criminology at the Dubai Police, stated that the police force first received reports of a woman’s body seen with bloodstains and bruises at the Al Barsha area, as per reports from Khaleej Times
Authorities then gathered all of the evidence and learned that the suspect was the one who informed the police about the incident. Investigations revealed that the suspect had been together with the victim, who is still in her 20s, for about three years and was at the scene of the crime when the authorities arrived.

The suspect explained that the woman had a seizure and was possessed by a demon and fell motionless when he strangled and beat her in his attempt to drive the spirit away.
When the police presented evidence to the man, he confessed to the murder of his own girlfriend after he took illegal drugs.
