The Ministry of Health and Protection (MoHaP) recently conducted 150,244 COVID-19 tests that led to the discovery of 1,723 new cases, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 patients to 206,092.
The ministry also reported three patients who have died due to complications from COVID-19, which brings the country’s total death toll to 665.
MOHAP also reported 1,607 individuals who have already recovered from the coronavirus disease, with the total now at 183,007.
This brings the total number of active cases higher from 22,307 to 22,420 as of December 30.

The UAE has raised the bar when it comes to ensuring individuals who contract the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) especially for severe cases, ranking first in the Middle East and North African regions and 10th around the world.
Dr. Omar Al Hammadi, the official spokesperson for the UAE Government, stated that the country has provided breakthrough technology to help in the diagnosis, treatment, and recovery of individuals who have contracted the disease.
“The UAE has applied the highest scientific standards in its treatment of Covid19, surpassing all countries in the Middle East and Africa, and is rated as tenth in the world in its effectiveness of treating the virus,” said Dr. Al Hammadi.
Among the innovative tools that the UAE used to help detect and treat COVID-19 include stem cell therapy, plasma, and laser technology.
“The UAE used laser technology to diagnose the Covid19 disease, and it was one of the first countries to use plasma and stem cell therapy to stimulate recovery,” read the statement from the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA).
