Global COVID-19 cases reach 60 million

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has now reached 191 countries worldwide with a total number of 60,346,970 confirmed cases as of posting time.

The United States of America reported the highest number of cases at 12,772,721, accounting for 21% of the world’s total. This is followed by India that reached 9,222,216 and Brazil at 6,166,606.

Here are the rest of the countries with the most number of cases:
France: 2,221,874
Russia: 2,144,229
Spain: 1,605,066
United Kingdom: 1,560,872
Italy: 1,480,874
Argentina: 1,390,388
Colombia: 1,270,991

The Philippines has a total of 422,915 cases while the UAE has 162,662 cases as of posting time.

Death toll

The world’s death toll currently stands at 1,470,721. Of this number 262,177 or 18% of the world’s total comes from the USA, followed by Brazil at 170,769 and India at 134,699.

Here are the rest of the countries with a high number of reported deaths:

Mexico: 103,597 deaths
United Kingdom: 56,630 deaths
Italy: 52,028 deaths
France: 50,700 deaths
Iran: 46,207 deaths
Spain: 44,037 deaths
Argentina: 37,714 deaths

The Philippines has reported 8,215 deaths while the UAE has managed to keep numbers low at 563.

Global recoveries

The good news is that recoveries account for 64% of the global total confirmed cases, which is currently at 38,667,637. India has the most number of recoveries at 8,642,771, followed by the Brazil at 5,534,010. This is followed by the USA at third with 4,835,956.

Argentina: 1,217,284 recovered
Colombia: 1,174,959 recovered
Peru: 884,747 recovered
Mexico: 798,037 recovered
South Africa: 716,444 recovered

The UAE has reported 151,044 individuals who have fully recovered from COVID-19, while the Philippines has over 386,955 recoveries.
