Cayetano apologizes to Sotto for 2021 national budget mess

House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano has apologized to Senate President Tito Sotto for the trouble caused by the ongoing speakership row on the 2021 national budget.

“I called up Sen. Sotto and asked him if he can extend to the whole Senate that I apologize kung ang dating… ipinapadating ko na may delay,” Cayetano said on a Facebook live video.

“Sabi ko kay Sen. Sotto, pasensya na kung ganyan ang dating. I apologize. Pero hindi po ganyan ang dating. Kung magkakaroon ng reenactment, hindi sa part ng House,” Cayetano said.

Cayetano slammed his rival for house speakership, Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Velasco once again for causing unnecessary troubles in the House amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Ganyan ang pulitika sa Piliipinas. Kahit nakiusap ako kay Velasco, hayaang matapos ang budget, sunod-sunod pa rin ang tirada laban sa amin,” he said.

He challenged Velasco anew to show him that he has the support of the members of the Congress.

“Yung sinasabi niyang numbers, inuulit ko come to my office, i-check natin na hindi doble ‘yung pumirma sa iyo at sa atin… then palitan mo ako. Paano mo ako papalitan by just saying that you have the numbers?” he added.

Cayetano also asked Velasco to stop the black propaganda.
