DITO is the brainchild of Dennis Uy – one of Davao’s most prominent businessmen who is now one of the emerging key players in the telecommunications market with the approval of their franchise, to challenge the current duopoly between PLDT Inc. and Globe Telecom

In addition, the house also amended Republic Act No. 8627 known as “an act granting the Mindanao Islamic Telephone Company Inc, a franchise to construct, establish, install, maintain and operate wire and/or wireless telecommunications system,”.
