Philippine Red Cross reveals PhilHealth’s outstanding Php700.5 million debt, fears cease of operations due to non-payment

The Philippine Red Cross called out the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) due to non-payment of their services that has reached around Php700.5 million to date.

PRC Chairman and Senator Richard ‘Dick’ Gordon revealed that PhilHealth only provided Php100 million as advance payment and only managed to pay in small amounts after that. He voiced out his concerns that this would hamper their operations as they also need to pay for their equipment, materials, and most especially – their people.

“Hindi naman puwedeng ganoon dahil kailangan din namin ng pambili ng materials para sa testing at pambayad sa mga tao,” said Senator Gordon in his Facebook post.

He also advised PhilHealth to settle payments today or else the PRC would have to cease their COVID-19 testing operations across testing centers in Manila.

“Kung hindi sila makapagbabayad hanggang ngayong araw, ititigil muna namin ang testing,” warned Senator Gordon.

“We have been totally cooperative in all aspects, but we cannot afford to continue if PhilHealth continues to fail to pay their lawful obligations,” he added.
