PH breaches 143,000-mark in COVID-19 cases as it confirms 4,444 newly infected patients

DOH also reported 636 new recoveries, 93 new deaths

The Department of Health has announced that the Philippines has already surpassed the 143,000-mark in the number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases as it records 4,444 new cases. The total number now stands at 143,749.

The country has surpassed Indonesia, and now has the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

DOH has also confirmed that the recoveries in the country now stands at 68,997, after 636 patients have successfully recouped from the virus.

In addition, the department announced 93 new fatalities, bringing the total number to 2,404.

President Rodrigo Duterte has reverted the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) status in Metro Manila until August 18, along with Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, and Bulacan.
