PH nears 130,000-mark in COVID-19 cases as it confirms 2,987 newly infected patients

DOH also reported 280 new recoveries, 19 new deaths

The Department of Health has announced that the Philippines has already surpassed the 139,000-mark in the number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases as it records 2,987 new cases. The total number now stands at 139,538.

The country now has the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

DOH has also confirmed that the recoveries in the country now stands at 68,432, after 280 patients have successfully recouped from the virus.

In addition, the department announced 19 new fatalities, bringing the total number to 2,312

President Rodrigo Duterte has reverted the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) status in Metro Manila until August 18, along with Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, and Bulacan.
