The UAE, through the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), will sponsor children who have lost their families in the explosion in Beirut, as well as provide the basic needs of the families of other victims.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, and Chairman of the ERC, announced this on Monday, directing the authority to identify the orphans and the affected families.
ERC was also instructed by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed to restore houses ruined by the massive explosion last August 4 in Lebanon’s capital.
Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, Secretary-General of the ERC, stressed that H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed has been monitoring the situation on the ground since the incident and is in constant communication with the ERC’s executive management to follow up the progress of relief operations.
The ERC is working to provide assistance to Lebanon in coordination with the Humanitarian Aid Office of the UAE Embassy in Beirut.
