New COVID-19 cases numbering over 3,000 for eight consecutive days has now pushed the Philippines as Southeast Asia’s hotspot for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) with numbers reaching 119,460.
Of the 3,561 new cases in the Philippines, five provinces in the Philippines emerged as the country’s latest hotspots with Metro Manila leading with 2,041 cases.
Laguna and Cebu followed with 222 and 221 respectively, while Cavite logged 100 and Rizal reported 81 new cases.
Previously, Indonesia ranked first which logged a total of 118,753 as per reports from The Jakarta Post.
As of posting time, 50,473 active cases in the Philippines are currently receiving treatment or are under isolation. Of this number 90.9 percent are under mild condition, 7.8 percent were reportedly asymptomatic cases, 0.8 percent are severe while the remaining 0.5 percent are in a critical state.
