PH breaches 119,000-mark in COVID-19 cases as it confirms 3,561 newly infected patients

New numbers make the Philippines the most impacted country in Southeast Asia

The Department of Health has announced that the Philippines has already surpassed the 119,000-mark in the number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases as it records 3,561 new cases. The total number now stands at 119,460.

The country has surpassed Indonesia, and now has the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

DOH has also confirmed that the recoveries in the country now stands at 66,837, after 569 patients have successfully recouped from the virus.

In addition, the department announced 28 new fatalities, bringing the total number to 2,150

President Rodrigo Duterte has reverted the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) status in Metro Manila until August 18, along with Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, and Bulacan.
