Hijri New Year, one of the UAE’s public holidays, will likely fall on August 20, 2020, Thursday.
The Sharjah Center for Astronomy and Space Science announced the expected date of the first day of the Islamic New Year, as per reports from Sharjah News.

SCASS revealed that astronomically, the date of August 20, 2020 will mark the beginning of Muharram or the first day of the 1442 Hijri New Year.
However, the date is still subject to change, depending on the UAE’s moonsighting committee which will gather closer to the said date.
