PH breaches 100,000-mark in COVID-19 cases as it confirms 5,032 newly infected patients

DOH also confirms 301 new recoveries, 20 new deaths

The Department of Health has announced that the Philippines has already surpassed the 100,000-mark in the number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases as it records 5,032 new cases. The total number now stands at 103,185.

DOH has also confirmed that the recoveries in the country now stands at 65,557 after 301 patients have successfully recouped from the virus.

In addition, the department announced 20 new fatalities, bringing the total number to 2,059

President Rodrigo Duterte maintains the general community quarantine (GCQ) status in Metro Manila until August 15. However, the medical community has strongly called on the reimposition of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the region as the increasing number of cases takes a toll on the country’s healthcare sector.
