PH breaches 85,000-mark in COVID-19 cases as it confirms 1,874 newly infected patients

DOH also confirms 388 new recoveries, 16 new deaths

The Department of Health has announced that the Philippines has already surpassed the 85,000-mark in the number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases as it records 1,874 new cases. The total number now stands at 85,486.

DOH has also confirmed that the recoveries in the country now stands at 26,996, after 388 patients have successfully recouped from the virus.

In addition, the department announced 16 new fatalities, bringing the total number to 1,962

President Rodrigo Duterte maintains the general community quarantine (GCQ) status in Metro Manila until July 31, along with Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, Lapu Lapu City, Mandaue City, Ormoc City, Southern Leyte, Zamboanga City, Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, and Basilan.

Meanwhile, Cebu City will be under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ).
