Less educated families receive less cash aid from gov’t – SWS Survey

Less educated Filipino families have received a lower amount of cash aid from the government since the start of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, according to the latest survey of Social Weather Stations (SWS). 

The survey—conducted through mobile phone interviews of Filipinos aged 18 and above—said that Filipino families of non-elementary graduates got an average of PHP5,516 worth of cash aid, while families of more educated individuals got assistance worth an average of PHP6,307 to PHP7,107.

In addition, the data revealed that Filipinos in urban areas received an average of PHP7,118, or higher than those in the rural areas, which got an average of PHP6,085.

Earlier, SWS noted in its analysis that the lower the person’s social status and educational attainment, the most likely he/she is to have had experienced hunger.

SWS emphasized the sampling error margins of ±2% for national percentages, ±6% for Metro Manila, and ±5% for Balance Luzon, ±5% Visayas, and ±5% in Mindanao.
