Abu Dhabi conducts 200,000 COVID-19 tests within city neighborhoods

Abu Dhabi continues to ramp up its mass testing efforts to track cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the emirate, with 200,000 additional tests conducted in 15 neighborhoods to date.

The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis & Disasters Committee, Abu Dhabi Health Services (SEHA) and the Department of Health, the ongoing efforts of the country’s National Screening Programme at the UAE’s capital states that the mass testing has achieved these numbers within one month since the home screen initiative started within residential areas.

Authorities aim to continue the initiative that is meant to help the elderly and vulnerable residents and citizens in the country.

“The initiative eases the burden of visiting testing centers among the elderly and vulnerable citizens and residents and supports the expanded testing strategy which is considered the most effective way to reduce the spread id Covid-19 and maintain public health,” as per an announcement from the Abu Dhabi Government Media Office.

As of posting time, COVID-19 global tracking site Worldometers state that the UAE has performed over 4,875,295 COVID-19 tests. The UAE ranks 10th in the list of countries that have performed tests among their residents and 6th in the list of total tests per one million population.
