President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos expects to generate 40,200 jobs from the PHP771.6 billion worth of total investment commitments from the business community in Japan.
The president released the statement as he witnessed the signing of nine new business agreements between the Philippines and Japan during his recent trip to Tokyo.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Marcos wrote: “Today, we received an additional PHP 14.5B worth of pledges, bringing our total investments from Japan this year to PHP 771.6B, which is expected to generate approximately 40,200 jobs.”
In February, Marcos visited Japan and secured about PHP708.2 billion worth of investment pledges, allowing the Philippines to open 24,000 job opportunities for its citizens.
In December, the Philippine government had already spent PHP169.7 billion of investment pledges, creating around 9,00 job opportunities in the country.
With the additional investment pledges from Japan, the Philippines would create around 15,750 jobs for Filipinos in the technology, manufacturing, and services industries.
