Iran reports 125 new COVID-19 fatalities; total death toll now at 4,357

Iran on April 11 has confirmed 125 new deaths from coronavirus disease (COVID-19), bringing the total number of fatalities to the Middle East’s worst-hit country to 4,357.

The Ministry of Health spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour said in a news conference that the number of COVID-19 cases in the country now stands at 70,029 after the country confirmed 1,837 newly diagnosed patients in the past 24 hours.

The number of patients who have recovered, meanwhile, is now 41,947, while around 3,987 are still in critical condition.

Currently, Iran has carried out over 250,000 tests across the country, as well as shut down schools, cinemas, stadiums, and Muslim shrines as precautionary measures to alleviate the spread of the disease
