Kuwait confirms 78 new cases; total now at 743
 
As Kuwait expands its lockdown by two hours, about 78 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have been reported—bringing the total number to 743.
 
According to the country’s Ministry of Health, 23 patients were put in intensive care due to complications, with 17 stable cases and three still in critical condition.
 
Of the 68 new cases, 69 were found to be in contact with a confirmed case. They include 59 Indians, three Pakistanis, three Bangladeshis, five Egyptians, three Iranians, and one each from Syria, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, and Kuwait.
 
In addition, Kuwait also announced two more recoveries, bringing the total number to 105. It came after the country confirmed its first death on April 4.
 
Kuwaiti government has imposed a full lockdown on Mahboula and Jleeb Al Shuyoukh—extending the closure of state institutions until April 25. Amid this lockdown, health care workers will conduct COVID-19 tests o on residents.
