PH Embassy in Bahrain launches Children’s Learning Center

In its effort to address the needs of undocumented children as well as kids of distressed Filipinos, the Philippine Embassy in Bahrain inaugurated its “Children’s Learning Center” (CLC) on March 13 at the Embassy’s Sentro Rizal.
The event also launched the first-ever learning session and play at the CLC.
The CLC was envisioned and created in cooperation with Overseas Workers Welfare Administration – (OWWA) Bahrain and through the assistance of Filipino professionals and Filipino organizations who provided the logistics, learning materials, and the interactive equipment used in the CLC.
Various Filipinos donated and personally installed the state-of-the-art digital smart board, which became the prominent feature of the CLC. A Filipino-American group in Bahrain, on the other hand, also donated learning materials, books and toys for kids, in addition to those provided by OWWA-Bahrain.
Two Filipino volunteer teachers specializing in early education of children will conduct biweekly learning sessions at the CLC to children of Embassy wards at MWFRC awaiting repatriation to the Philippines. Daily learning support activities for the kids will also be provided by volunteers under the Embassy’s supervision.
On the other hand, the Embassy’s CLC will also serve as a nursing station and a diaper changing room of Embassy clients needing the service. Toiletries and other provision for child-minding are also made available at the CLC for the use of those who may need them during their transaction at the Embassy.
