A television network in Saudi Arabia will launch a weekly anime series, the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia, on January 24, Arab News reported.
The anime, called Future’s Folktales, will be premiered on MBCI, and will feature the Kingdom’s history in a 2D setting.
The series is a joint project between Manga Productions in Saudi Arabia and TOEI Animation in Japan, and aims to stimulate the creativity of Saudi’s future generations. It will consist of 13 episodes and will showcase tales of Saudi heritage in a futuristic reimagining of the Kingdom.
In a report by Arab News, Sarah Oulddaddah, head of animation at Manga Productions, said she was happy to showcase local talent in a unique content.
“The team at Manga Productions did all of the writing, character and plot development, and contributed significantly to the creation of concept art. We have a very talented all-Arab team who contributed to the content with their invaluable experience,” Arab News quoted Oulddaddah as saying.
