PH Ambassador to Riyadh assures OFWs: We are safe in Saudi Arabia

The Philippine Embassy in Saudi Arabia on January 12 assured the leaders and representatives of the Filipino communities in Riyadh that they are safe and no serious threat is looming in the Kingdom.
In a meeting, Philippine Ambassador Adnan Alonto said that the security situation in Saudi Arabia remains normal. He also asks Filipinos based in Riyadh to refrain from spreading fake messages of an imminent threat following the tension between Iran and the US, and instead share with their loved ones that there is no cause to raise the alert level in the Kingdom.
“There are no visible changes in the general situation and security protocols of Saudi. Any incidence of invasion and fighting between the US and Iran spilling over Saudi Arabia is unlikely. The likelihood of a mass evacuation is low. We are safe in Saudi Arabia,” he said.
The Ambassador added during the briefing that just in case the situation changes, the Philippine missions in Saudi Arabia have workable contingency plans.
“The Kingdom is stable and calm but the Philippine Embassy wants to remind Filipinos that it is prepared with a contingency plan just in case something happens,” he said.
