Saudi issues more than 10,000 tourism licenses in 2019

Saudi Arabia has shown its commitment to improve tourism in the Kingdom with data showing it has issued more than 10,000 tourism licenses in 2019.
According to a report by Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper, the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) has issued thousands of licenses related to tourism, such as accommodation facilities, travel agencies, tour organizations, tour guidance and reservation offices, and tourism marketing agencies.
The Kingdom has also shown its keenness to keep tourism standards high, with the number of penalties on violating tourism facilities last year reaching 1,268, and with a total value of SR12 million.
The Commission has also allowed tourists to obtain visa on arrival in the Kingdom if they have existing and used UK, US, and Schengen visas—regardless of their citizenship.
Visitors intending to benefit from the new regulation must have previously used the visa to travel to any one of these countries before entering Saudi Arabia.
In addition, around 49 countries have also become eligible to apply for an e-Visa online or get a visa of arrival into Saudi Arabia.
