Saudi bans barbecue, shisha in public parks

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has banned barbecue and shisha in public parks and warned offenders would be fined SR100 ($27).

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs said that those caught lighting fires for a barbecue, shisha or other activities would be penalized on the spot.

Offenders for the first time would be fined SR100 and those who repeat the offence would pay SR200 ($54), the Ministry said in a statement.

“The decision was issued with the aim of ensuring safety and put an end to harmful practices in public places,” it added.
