As part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to improve its vocational industry, a series of vocational tests will be conducted to approximately 500,000 expats—including the Philippines.
According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, there over 2.5 million unskilled foreign workers in the Kingdom, a reason they will organize five stages for vocational tests starting this coming December.
In a report by Saudi Gazette, the ministry’s vocational program head Naif Al-Omair said the examinations will be conducted in eight training centers around the Kingdom, and it will cover vocational, theoretical, and practical tests. It will also be taken by expats from seven countries—the Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Egypt, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
He added that the tests will be in Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, and Filipino languages, and that passers will be given a five-year certificate.
Workers from the Philippines will sit for the exams in May 2020.
