5 OFWs rescued from sexually abusive employer

Five female Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) were rescued and assisted by the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah on November 11, 2019 at Al Uha in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.

The Consulate has dispatched a team to assist the OFWs in distress who claim to have been sexually assaulted by their employer. The employer has allegedly also been passing them to different other employers to do odd jobs for a fee.

At the Al Ula Public Prosecutor’s Office, Atty. Charm Torres-Elacion and Translator Damra Saumay assisted the victims in presenting their complaint against their employer.

The accused employer was immediately detained after the conclusion of the preliminary investigation. The victims will be provided legal representation by the Consulate, assisted in their criminal and labor complaints, and will be brought to the Consulate for temporary shelter.
