Bahrain plans to build new cities in line with urban development vision

Bahrain has stressed its aim to build new urban areas as part of its comprehensive urban development vision for demographic growth, Bahrain News Agency reported.

In commemoration of World Cities Day this October 31, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa said that Bahrain wants to carry out more urban complexes nationwide to meet the growing needs of its residents in terms of services and amenities.

He added that the urban growth and expansin of the Kingdom is based on its sustainable development goals (SDGs) 2030 endorsed by the United Nations—which includes providing decent housing for its citizens as well as providing the future needs of future generations.

“The future of cities necessitates taking procedures to improve their suitability for a decent life by providing essential services according to an integrated system that meets the requirements of sustainable development,” HRH the Premier said in a released statement.

HRH the Premier also noted the government’s support to countries in need for assistance to in terms of building urban growth through planning a framework with different sectors.

Bahrain News Agency also reported that HRH the Premier commended United Nations and its efforts to achieve the sustainable development goals and boost people’s welfare.
