Consulate officials in Jeddah to learn Arabic in new language program

The Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Jeddah will enroll around 17 of its personnel in a basic Arabic language course in its efforts to deliver better services to Overseas Filipino Workers.

Foreign Service Institute, the training and capacity-building arm of the Department of Foreign Affairs, has given the Consulate a grant to enroll the staff to Effat University in Jeddah for the said course.

The Arabic language training will provide personnel with a basic understanding of Arabic, which may aid in easier transactions either with public offices, private companies, or individuals in Jeddah and the other areas in the Western Region.

Through this initiative, PCG Jeddah hopes reap better results especially in Assistance to Nationals cases where constant follow-up and correspondences with the Saudi Police, local courts, and immigration offices, among others, are necessary.
