DFA to hold job fair for repatriated construction workers from Saudi Arabia

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will be holding a job fair for repatriated construction workers from Saudi Arabia.

The job fair is set to be held on October 25 at the Apolinario Mabini Hall, DFA Building, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.

Some 16 recruitment agencies will do the initial screening for applicants.

The 10 big DTI-accredited companies to be present include Whiteport Inc., DDT Konstract Inc., EEI Corporation, Meralco Industrial Engineering Services Corporation, Atlantic, Gulf & Pacific Company of Manila Inc., Megawide Construction Corporation, D.M. Wenceslao & Associates Inc., D.M. Consuji Inc., and F.F. Cruz & Company, as well as POEA-accredited recruitment agencies.

“We continue to extend our hands to those repatriated OFWs, particularly the workers in the construction sector from Saudi Arabi who have been greatly affected by the tragic economic crises that closed down different construction companies in Saudi. For the country and the people, we continue to do our best. We will never cease to provide support and assistance to our nation’s modern-day heroes,” Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Sarah Lou Arriola said in a statement.

The DFA Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs and other government agencies such as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) under OWWA, Department of Health (DOH), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (CIAP) organized the job fair.

The job fair also provides medical consultations among distressed OFWS. The event hopes to give support to OFWs while they are waiting for their benefits from Saudi Arabia. (TN)
