Saudi OFWs joining heritage tour to meet Junior Master Chef

Filipinos in Saudi Arabia who will join this year’s heritage tour in Bicol will get to meet Junior Master Chef and newest UN Young Champion of the Earth Louise Mabulo.

Overseas Filipino Workers in the Kingdom who will take part in this year’s Diskubre Tour in the Bicol Region will see first-hand the award-winning initiative of Chef Mabulo—a known OFW who returned to the region to start her own sustainable community farm—called The Cacao Project.

The Cacao Project provides local cacao farmers training on how to responsibly and sustainably produce cacao at a quality standard.

Mabulo will interact with the joiners of the tour and talk about the importance of sustainable local farming. The meet-and-greet will end with an artisanal dinner in her organic kitchen.

The Diskubre Tour is an initiative by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Office of Strategic Communications and Research-Cultural Diplomacy Unit aimed at promoting the Philippine culture through offering trips to Filipinos staying in countries all over the world.

This year, the heritage trip will be held from January 3 to 13, 2020. The tour is open for second-generation as well as foreign-born Filipinos aged 18 to 40. Kids below may also join with supervision from their parents or guardians.

Interested participants can register at http://www.travelwiseonline.com/diskubre until 31 October 2019. More details can be seen on the Facebook page of The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah.
