Bahrain opens its new pride to the world with the recent launch of its underwater theme park, the largest in the world, Arab News reported.
Dive Bahrain Park covers an area of 100,000 square meters, and features an imitation of a local pearl merchant’s house. It also has a 70-meter-long Boeing 747 as its centerpiece—the largest plane ever to be purposely plunged underwater.
The park also has artificial coral reefs as well as other sculptures designed for coral reef growth and to sustain marine life in the area. It aims to cater to tourists and diving enthusiasts, with its proximity to Bahrain International Airport. In addition, Arab News reported that it will also serve as a research area for marine ecologists to study marine preservation.
The project was developed by Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) and the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE).
