Saudi governor says Filipinos contribute greatly to KSA

A governor from Saudi Arabia praised the Filipinos working in the kingdom, saying that they are great contributors to their economy.

Madinah Governor HRH Prince Faisal Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud made this statement during a courtesy call paid by Philippine Consul General Ed Badajos on September 17.

During the meeting, the Governor lauded the Filipino community in Madinah, telling the Consul General that they are “industrious and hardworking.” He added that they are one of the major factors to the social diversity and economic dynamism of the province.

Consul General Badajos, during the courtesy call, also raised some concerns involving Filipino workers in Madinah. The Governor assured him that his office will look into these concerns in coordination with the provincial labor office.

The Madinah Province covers the governorates of Madinah, Al Hunakiyah, Mahd Al Thahab, Al-`Ula, Badr, Khaybar, and Yanbu Al Bahar. Its capital, Madinah City is approximately three and a half hours from Jeddah by land.

According to the latest figures provided by local authorities, there are at least 60,000 Filipino workers in the area, most of whom are working in the medical field.
