Bahrain hails its strong cooperation with the Philippines and seeks to further enhance its ties, the Philippine News Agency reported.
Bahrain Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa commended the growing relationship between the governments of the two nations during the visit of Amable Aguiluz, the special envoy of President Rodrigo Duterte, to the the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries last August 28.
In another report by Bahrain News Agency, the prime minister hailed the contributions of the Filipino expats to the kingdom’s progress.
“I want to express satisfaction with the progress witnessed by the Bahraini-Philippines cooperation in various fields, thus embodying the two countries’ distinguished deep-rooted relations and mutual understanding on a wide range of regional and global issues,” he said.
The kingdom’s government has smoothed the regularization of undocumented Filipino workers last year. As of 2018, there are around 60,000 Filipinos working and living in Bahrain.
The prime minister, through his letter to Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Sarah Lou Arriola, also said that Bahrain also considers the Philippines “as a valued partner in achieving shared political and economic objectives.”
