University of Bahrain students invent smart wheelchair

The female students of the University of Bahrain (UoB) made headlines once again with their newest invention—the smart wheelchair.

In a report the The Daily Tribune News of Bahrain, a group of female Bahraini electrical engineering students—Basanat Fawzi, Sarah Hassan, and Eman Al Halwaji—presented their latest invention at the recently held project exhibition of the university’s Faculty of Engineering.

The electric wheelchair is equipped with various sensors to increase the safety of the user. Its features include sensors to read distances, automatic brakes, as well as the option to automatically alert the user’s family or relatives if he/she falls out of the chair.

Earlier this month, other students of UoB made the news after inventing the Diabetes aid App, which helps diabetic patients observe their blood sugar levels, manage their insulin doses per meal, as well as monitor their health in general.
