An Asian man, who has been on the kingdom’s wanted list, attacked a police officer with a plank, The Daily Tribune News of Bahrain reported.
The High Criminal Court of Bahrain has sentenced the man to three years of imprisonment after he hit a police officer to resist the arrest.
The victim and another police officer were assigned to search for wanted men in the kingdom when they detected the defendant. They approached him and ordered him to present his Central Population Registry card.
“He gave it to us without causing any problems but as soon as he knew that he was wanted, he resisted and then picked up a plank and hit my arms,” The Daily Tribune News of Bahrain quoted the victim as saying.
The other police tried to stop him, but the defendant already fled.
According to the victim’s doctor, he suffered torn muscles and wounds in his left and right arms.
The defendant was sentenced in absentia, and was ordered to be deported once he completes his jail time.
