Saudi doctors saved the life of a one-year-old child by removing a nail he had swallowed at home.
Doctors at a public hospital in the Western town of Makkah spent hours to locate and remove the nail which blocked the boy’s breathing system.
The Arabic language daily Sabq said the baby was playing with the nail at home when it fell inside his mouth.
“The nail got stuck inside the baby’s throat, blocking his breathing system… He could hardly breathe and his face colour changed as the nail slid deeper..”
Fortunately, the baby’s life was saved in a surgery that lasted hours.
