Asian kidnapped and beaten in Bahrain for not paying debt

An Asian man was abducted from his home in Bahrain and assaulted several times for allegedly not paying his debt earlier this year.

In a report by The Daily Tribune News of Bahrain, the court data of High Criminal Court showed that the victim had borrowed Bh1,500 from his workmate and he failed to return the amount on March 31.
The workmate’s brother and his friends then went to the victim’s apartment, dragged him into their car, drove to an apartment in Salmaniya, and repeatedly beaten him.

The victim told the prosecutors that he thought the suspects visited him to just discuss the matter. He added that they took him to Salmaniya and assaulted him repeatedly with wooden planks. The victim noted that the suspects took his phone afterwards, threatened to kill him if he told the police about what happened, and finally drove him back to his office.

One of the victim’s neighbors reported the incident to the police after he saw him dragging the victim into their car. The suspects were charged with abduction and assault this month, to which they have pleaded not guilty.
