Gifts, including large sums of money, have poured on a Saudi policeman who refused to take a small sum of money from a female Muslim Arab pilgrim after he helped her during the annual Hajj that ended this week.
Majid Abdul Aziz, who was among thousands of Saudi cops assigned in Makkah for Hajj, was seen this week in an online film refusing to take money from the woman, telling her that he was only doing his duty.
Newspapers on Wednesday said Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdul Aziz bin Nayef, who saw the film, decided to give the cop SR100,000 ($27,000) and a luxury car. He also gave him the choice to work in any city he likes.
A senior police officer also gifted Abdul Aziz SR20,000 ($5,400) while the Makkah Municipal Council decided to present a land plot to him, the papers said.
