Bahay Kalinga in Saudi repaired for better OFW service

Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Riyadh has its shelter efficiently repaired late last month to better cater to occupants in need.

The Philippine Professional Organizations – Central Region Saudi Arabia (PPO – CRSA) has conducted a joint visit and inspection last July to POLO Riyadh’s Bahay Kalinga in response to the request of Police Attaché Police Col. Faro Antiono O. Olaguerra.

The first visit was conducted last July 13, when PPO – CRSA, along with Infrastructure Congress and Expo Philippines and Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers, and Philippine Professional Organizations, checked the electronics and mechanical facilities of Bahay Kalinga from 8 AM to 12 NN. The shelter is now overcrowded, and problems such as octopus connections and overloading, dilapidated ceilings, wall openings, defective hard disk and CCTV system, uncovered electrical wirings, and undersized cables and joint were found.

After problems were determined in these areas of the house, the second part of the inspection—which was conducted on 26—included PPO repairing all the defective parts of the shelter, including the CCTV system, fire alarm and detection system, air-conditioning, ceiling and defective fans, the old risky wires, and beds and pillows, among many others.

After the repair of the house, the organization has distributed personal hygiene supplies and goods to the occupants.
