Riyadh: A housemaid waited for more than 16 years to report her Saudi employers to the labor authorities in the kingdom.
The Indonesian worker has not been paid her wages since she was employed by them.
An investigation by the labor office in the Eastern town of Al Khobar found that the Saudi family has not paid the maid all that period.
“The employer was given the choice to pay his maid or face jail and heavy fines,” the Arabic language daily Sabq said.
The unnamed employer issued a cheque of SR138,000 (Dh135,000) to the maid and bought her an air ticket to return to her home country.
