UN accepts Bahrain’s International Day of Conscience resolution

The United Nations on Monday has announced its acceptance of Bahrain’s draft resolution that will officially mark April 5 of each year as the International Day of Conscience.

In a report by Bahrain News Agency, the UN has adopted the resolution submitted by Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa on behalf of the Kingdom. It is a response to the initiative suggested by the prime minister in order to motivate the international community to resolve conflicts peacefully.

“The adoption of April 5th as an International Day of Conscience is a tool of mobilising the international community’s regular efforts to promote peace, tolerance, integration, and understanding in order to build a sustainable world based on peace, solidarity, and harmony” the UN said in a resolution adopted by the General Assembly at its 73rd session.

According to the prime minister, the adoption of the draft resolution emphasizes the need to “unite the will of the international community to end the suffering of millions of people in many regions of the world, continue efforts to preserve the right to a secure and stable life, and to sustain development that promotes human well-being.”

“It reflects the strong will of the peoples of the world to make the world conscience one of the cornerstones on which to advance the international collective action towards a more secure, peaceful, and stable world,” he added.
