Filipinos in Saudi to be determined for industry certification

Filipino students in Saudi will get assessment for industry certification through an on-site assessment next month.

Students from Filipino Oasis Review Center and Examination (FORCE-PH), a known review center in Riyadh; and Computer Society of Filipinos (COMSOFIL), a computer training school in Riyadh, will be subjected to an assessment by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on August 7 to 12.

TESDA will determine if they will be qualified for a certification in their chosen career path.

The on-site assessment is part of the Philippine government’s efforts to bring skills and development programs closer to Filipinos in Saudi. It aims to measure the capability of Filipinos in various industries—ranging from caregiving, healthcare, photography, and computer servicing system—and determine if they merit the coveted National Certificate (NC II). The NC II will further help them find suitable careers in their chosen industry anywhere in the world.

There will be 158 aspirants in the Caregiving sector, 169 for Healthcare, 43 for Photography, and 42 for Computer Servicing System in total from these training schools.

The on-site assessment will also assist these OFWs in assessing their current knowledge and skills in related or alternative jobs, as well as provide interventions such as skills training.

FORCE-PH and COMSOFIL are two of the training schools in Riyadh, where the instructors are all volunteers. The students believe in the importance of these institutions, as they make TESDA assessment and certification easier. The schools are also in touch with Philippine Overseas Labor Offices in terms of requesting for the certifications of the aspirants.
