Bahrain shows support for all religions in latest US summit

Bahrain has shown how the kingdom is a sanctuary for all faiths through its support of the recently concluded religious summit by the United States of America, The Daily Tribune News of Bahrain reported.

Bahrain’s foreign minister Shaikh Bin Ahmed Mohammed Al Khalifa is one of the important attendees of the Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom, an initiative of the United States Department of State which brings together international leaders from governments, faith organizations, and NGOs to discuss how to combat persecution and ensure religious freedom for everyone. At the summit, held last July 18, the minister said that religious freedom is an integral part of the history and the identity of the kingdom.

He added that its constitution guarantee such for everyone in the country. He said that their ruler—His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa—is constantly putting in efforts through pioneering initiatives that promote religious freedom.

The king, he added, reflects on his Declaration of Worldwide Religious Tolerance, which inspired him to establish the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, inaugurate the King Hamad Chair for Interfaith Dialogue, and create a peaceful coexistence at the University of Sapienza in Rome, Italy.

“This represents a global model of peaceful coexistence and religious freedom which assures the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment in preserving the nature of Bahraini society, its variety, diversity, tolerance, coexistence, openness, and respect for different societies and peoples,” he said at the conference.
