3 Bahraini sentenced for anti-national acts

A Bahraini court has sentenced three local men for their involvement in calling for civil disobedience, The Daily Tribune News of Bahrain reported.

The Fourth High Criminal Court found the Bahraini men guilty for the distribution of leaflets that called for civil disobedience last year, even forcing shopkeepers to close their shops and then resisting arrest in Malkiya Village.

One of the men was penalized to six-month imprisonment for resisting arrest, while the two got two months for the possession of the leaflets.

According to the report by The Daily Tribune News of Bahrain, the court files showed that the men forced commercial shop owners and workers to close operations in Malkiya Village, near Hamad Town on February 14, 2018. The distribution of the leaflets, according to Hamad Town Police, were believed to be under the order of February 14 Coalition—a terrorist group responsible for numerous attacks in the kingdom.

When the authorities arrived on scene, the defendants were arrested—after resisting—while others fled the scene. They confessed to the crime, saying that they had agreed on February 13 to force the people to close their stores, as well as to prevent student from going to schools on February 14. However, the men denied any relation with the February 14 Coalition.
