Garimon Roferos impressed the global fashion community at the recently-held International Fashion Week with his new collection that takes inspiration from the magnificence of the ‘Garden of Eden’.
Roferos, who was hailed as The Filipino Times Awards 2017 Most Promising Fashion Designer of the Year said that he chose the theme as it fits his vision of an alluring paradise that has a beautiful story to tell.
“We all know that the Garden of Eden is a paradise where the first man and woman lived. It was created by God to be a cradle where man can live peacefully with contentment innocence, it is also a place that reaps the fruits of the earth. My collection represents the beauty of that paradise that serves as great imagery of every detail and design of each couture piece that walks in the runway,” said Roferos in an interview with The Filipino Times.
He added that his latest works also promote the preservation of the environment as he repurposed materials and fabrics to create his couture pieces.
“As a designer of the modern world, I believe in sustainability. I don’t just design for the sake of creating beautiful pieces but also I care for the welfare of our environment. Most of the materials I used are made from sustainable recycled materials,” explained Roferos.
Exuding confidence
The Dubai-based Filipino fashion designer envisions a confident woman who knows her worth in today’s age whenever he designs a new piece to exude inner strength and resilience.
“I design for women who want to be confident, empowered, and beautiful. I want them to wear something that best represents who they are as a modern woman. With this latest collection I can say that is edgier that signifies modernity, flowy that symbolizes lightness with a touch of class and luxury,” said Roferos.
Roferos expresses his gratitude to his team who made it possible for him to participate in this annual event that gathered some of the most prominent fashion designers.
“I am truly honored to be one of the designers for this prestigious fashion event in the Emirates. As a Filipino, I am very proud to represent our country and our community where artistry and passion for fashion is my top priority. I’m so grateful to have this chance to showcase my creative and intricate handmade couture collection to the world,” said Roferos.
He added: “This will never be possible without the help and support of my team. I am very thankful for each one of them. The stylist that made the overall look glam Khel Recuenco, Bethoven Filomeno as the visual and music director, Michaele Amazona del Mar for his amazing runway choreography and sequence of the collection, to my Garimon Roferos creative team Alvin Baybayan, Joy Toleran, and my whole GR Couture team.
