‘I’m now a millionaire!’ Dubai employer surprises Filipina with a bundle of cash for son’s college, home construction

A Filipina worker in Dubai has received the surprise of her life after her employer gave her a huge amount of cash enough to send her son to college and help her start the construction her own home in the Philippines.

Social media influencer Alex Hirschi, who is also known as Supercar Blondie among her online followers, first set up a mock documentary interview to honor her Filipina employee named Avelina.

“For a very special employee of mine, what we’ve done is we’ve set up these lights so all of my employees will come through that door. But that’s all for a show,” Alex said at the start of the viral video.

“Her name is Avelina. She’s from the Philippines she’s 50 years old and she has moved to Dubai to save up enough cash to send her son to college,” she added.

“I want to take this weight off her shoulders with this surprise,” she said.

Some of Alex’s co-workers then spoke about Avelina and how they treasure her in their Dubai office.

“Avelina does not stop working. She’s always happy to see us,” one of Alex’s workmates said. Another said, “She’s the heart and soul of this office.”

Avelina has been working for Alex for two and a half years. She has two sons in the Philippines. Her eldest is 29 years old while the other one is 15.

“Alex is a kind woman; she always makes sure that you are happy,” Avelina said during her mock interview.

Few minutes later, Alex entered the door with a bouquet of flowers and gave it to Avelina. Then she gave a box filled with cash.

“This is enough money to send your son to college and build a home,” Alex said.

Avelina bursting into tears and said, “I am a millionaire now.”

But this surprise is not for Avelina to leave, the social media influencer quipped.
“We appreciate you so much that you have to leave your family behind and work with us in order to earn money and take it back to your family. We just want to help you a little bit, but don’t leave us,” Alex said.

Alex has been named by the Arabian Business in 2019 as one of the top 30 most influential women in the Arab world.

She was awarded Influencer of the Year by Esquire Middle East, Vlogger of the year by Cosmopolitan Magazine ME, and Lifestyle Influencer of the Year from the Monaco Influencer Awards.

“I am from the Philippines as well and do not personally know Avelina but being a Filipina myself, thank you ma’am. Not all overseas workers are blessed enough to have an employer like you. GOD bless you more and your family and Avelina’s also,” another one said.

“I’ve always been a big fan. Your kindheartedness and generosity is so admirable. It shows the real person in you and not just the personality. I truly believe that this is what makes you truly successful. May your kindness bring you even more success and happiness in your professional and personal life,” another netizen said.
